Herman Wallace memorial service/Albert Woodfox rally
In October 2013, AIUSA, Amnesty International at Tulane University, the Angola 3 Coalition, and family and friends of the members of the Angola 3 joined together in remembering Herman Wallace and demanding the release of Albert Woodfox.
A march and a rally took place in New Orleans, it started at St. Augustine Catholic Church, and ended at the Louisiana Supreme Court.
Baby Boyz Brass Band lead the rally.
Albert Woodfox has been in solitary confinement for more than 40 years. The Louisiana authorities refuse to free him despite the fact that his conviction was overturned 3 times. More than four decades ago, Albert Woodfox, one of the Angola 3 prisoners, was convicted of murdering a prison guard. No physical evidence ties him to the crime. The state claimed it lost potentially exculpatory evidence, and evidence shows that the key eyewitness was bribed. Despite this, Albert has been confined to a small cell for 23 hours a day for nearly 41 years.
